Mimi's Hot Apple

The simplest warming Winter drink and a great alternative for adults too as a non-alcoholic alternative to mulled wine. On a cold Winters Day this simple spiced apple drink warms everyone up after a chilly walk, or playground visit. We have also taken it out with us in a thermos, which also works well.

 

ingredients

  • 750ml good quality apple juice

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 large piece of orange peel

  • runny honey to taste*

to make ~

Take a pot add the apple juice, cinnamon sticks and orange peel. Warm until a low boil then drop the temperature right down and allow the warm apple juice to steep for 5 minutes, with the aromatics. After 5 minutes remove the cinnamon and orange peel.

Test for sweetness you can adjust with a little honey as needed. Serve in mugs and enjoy.

 

*honey is not suitable for babies under 1 years old
